Say Goodbye to Acne Scars!

If you think nothing can get more annoying than the acne on your face, you’re forgetting about acne scars. They are a constant reminder of what your skin went through. Unlike battle scars, acne scars aren’t something to be proud about. You want them gone just as much as you want your acne gone.

Before anything else, why do these annoying scars exist in the first place? Imagine this:

“Looking in a mirror, and you see a hideous pimple on the tip of your nose. You can’t think of anything else except how that pimple is making you look. You get tempted to take matters into your own hands and pop the pimple.”

This is the major cause of acne scars; doing things your own way. Correct and proper acne treatment is the only way to prevent scars. Although the skin reddens and may be a bit inflamed for a while, this is a normal and a temporary response. A much better solution would be to prevent acne. However, everyone gets acne despite trying so hard to prevent it.

Acne scars usually come as a result of severe acne;  small nodules found in the dermis of the skin. Just like your ordinary acne, these nodules accumulate a lot of pus, just more than normal. There are people more prone to having scars regardless of what kind of pimple they have. Although this has yet to be validated, some suggest it might be a factor of the skin type of a person.

The type of treatment depends on the type of acne scar you have. Mild scars are only a bit depressed, while a more severe type can be rather deep. Before heading out to the dermatologist, there are a number of home remedies you can try out as well. Normally, acne scars fade after a couple of months (it can take up to a year, for some).

Here are some home remedies you can try out:

  • You can use lemons to lighten the color. Put a bit of lemon juice on a cotton ball and lightly dab it on the affected area. Leave for around 5-10 minutes, then rinse it off.
  • If you have access to tea tree oil, this works in the same way as lemon juice.
  • Drinking 8-10 glasses of water is important not only for health, but to promote skin healing as well.

Remember, prevention is better than a fix, don’t pop your zits!
